ROGUE’S REQUIREMENTS
Rogues may typically follow their own rules, but our collective has a few we expect everyone here to follow. If you are uncertain about any of these rules, please ask! We want to make sure our rules are clear so everyone is on the same page.
We might change these at some point, but we promise to always make changes public before enforcing them.
1) This server is mainly for adults 18 years of age or older.
- We limit topics and content such as explicit depictions of hard drugs, extreme violence, graphic gore, and erotica to designated age-restricted channels.
2) Keep conversation civil and welcoming.
- Be respectful of others.
- This is an inclusive space, and we have zero tolerance for hate speech.
- You can swear here!
- Just not at other members.
- You can have disagreements!
- Just don’t insult other members.
- Keep the discussion on topic.
- If you’re starting to lose your cool, take a break.
- Apologize for your mistakes!
- Don’t get defensive.
- Use mistakes to learn more and do better.
- Have fun with your server profile.
- Please don’t use joke pronouns.
- If your profile contains adult content, we may ask that you edit it.
- Did you know that you can display different profile content on each Discord server? Ask us how!
- You can discuss religion, politics, and other sensitive topics!
- Just don’t push others to think like you.
- Someone may request that you move the conversation to our designated Sensitive Topics space.
- And that’s okay!
- Respect others’ sensibilities. Not everyone shares the same threshold for all types of content.
- We do not maintain a list of topics that require trigger warnings and spoiler tags.
- If you know that someone has difficulty with certain topics, it is kind to warn them about the content of your post and put that content behind a spoiler tag.
- If someone asks you to hide something, please edit your post and add the tags.
- Not sure how to use spoiler tags? Refer to our server’s Discord FAQ, or ask us!
- Use Mindful Communication techniques!
- Don’t repeat yourself more than once.
- Limit how much you correct others.
- Pick and choose what you correct.
- Remember that different people will have different ideas and opinions.
- Clarifying questions help you make (and keep) friends!
- Examples include
- “Do you want to keep talking about this or should we take a break?”
- “Should we change the subject?”
- Examples include
3) Ask for help.
- Know when to reach out to a moderator and/or Jenai.
- If you believe that someone may be breaking the rules, or acting otherwise inappropriately, rather than interjecting and telling them yourself, please reach out to moderators or the server owner (Jenai) to handle the situation.
- We ask that you do this, no matter how well-intentioned you are, or how polite you intend to be.
- But speak up when you must. This rule isn’t black and white, and we know that unpredictable exceptions lurk in dark corners. Our members’ well-being is our priority.
- Someone is usually around to help.
- We have several moderators spread across many international time zones.
- But our moderators also have jobs and other obligations, so don’t be alarmed if they take a little while to respond.
- They’ll help you as soon as they can.
- Moderators are members too!
- Moderators hang out, chat, and goof off just like everyone else.
- The term “Mod Hat” is a moderator’s way of communicating in their official capacity.
- If you have issues with a Mod Hat announcement, or you feel something hasn’t been addressed, please open a support ticket.
- And moderators sometimes mess up too!
- If you are concerned about a moderator’s behavior or actions, please send a direct message (DM) to the server owner (Jenai) or another moderator.
- If you need advice or have questions, no matter how small, please submit a ticket and chat with us.
- No, really!
- You’re not wasting our time or bothering us, and we are not flooded with support tickets.
4) Keep sensitive information private.
- You can talk about and research all kinds of things!
- Just don’t doxx anyone.
- That means don’t share someone else’s private, unlisted information without their permission.
- Sharing publicly listed information is not doxxing.
- However, it’s still polite to ask first.
- Also, don’t share photos of other people without their permission.
- You can share your own information!
- Just remember that not everyone is trustworthy.
- It can be dangerous to share your contact information with random people online.
5) Follow copyright.
- You can share your own writing, art, and memes!
- Provide credit for the works of others and follow any licensing guidelines their creators might provide.
- Don’t share writing or artwork that was assembled using Generative AI (an example is ChatGPT).
- Professionals, including some group members, have had their work stolen by AI.
- And that is not okay!
- If you suspect that something another member posted might be made by AI, please involve a moderator.
- Sometimes it’s very difficult to spot AI. So do your best and,
- If a moderator says that something may be AI, it’s not a big deal; just remove it.
- No harm, no foul — you’re not in trouble.
- Professionals, including some group members, have had their work stolen by AI.
